Heat Advisory

The national weather service has issued a heat advisory...until 7 pm Sunday.

Afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 90s to lower 100s through Saturday. Heat index readings will range from 100 to 105 each day. Overnight lows will be in the mid 70s to near 80. A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of water...avoid caffeinated...alcoholic or high sugar content beverages...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...and check up on neighbors...the elderly...and pets. Cooling stations are being offered by the Missouri department of health and senior services. Cooling stations offer air conditioning and free water. To find a cooling station near you, visit their website at www.home.mo.gov.
