The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency will be at a Nebraska power plant next month following a regional preparedness exercise.
The FEMA region 7 radiological preparedness program will evaluate the Cooper Nuclear Power Plant during a 2nd day drill July 29th through August 1st. FEMA will evaluate and rate how facility personnel react to emergency procedures, as well as state, county and local officials respond. On August 3rd FEMA will hold a public meeting at 10 am to discuss the drill and the facilities response. That meeting will be held in the Nebraska Public Power District- Emergency Operations Facility Auditorium at 902 Central Avenue in Auburn, Nebraska.
