July 18, 2012BUCHANAN COUNTY, MO | By: Holley
A 15-mile stretch of Route 45 in southern Buchanan County and northern Platte County will see significant improvement later this month.
The Missouri Department of Transportation reports Herzog Contracting Corporation of St. Joseph has been awarded a 2.4 million dollar contract for the work. Improvements will be made on Route 45 from north of U.S. Highway 59 through Weston, Missouri to just south of route 273 in Platte County. Work on the roadway will begin Monday. Repairs will be made to the pavement and shoulder drop offs that were damaged in last year's flooding. Herzog will then widen shoulders on part of the roadway and add two lifts of asphalt over the entire length of the project. A new guard rail, rumble stripes, striping and design changes at the junction of Highway 59 and Route 45 are also included in the improvements. The work could take as long as 5 weeks. Pilot cars and flaggers may be used at any time throughout the project.
