Brown County, KS Break-ins

A number of break-in's have been reported in rural Brown County, Kansas.

Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says the latest took place Wednesday near Hiawatha where over 5,000 dollars worth of property was stolen. Merchant says his department has seen an increase in the number of burglaries reported to his office in recent weeks.

Merchant says there are several ways residents in Brown County can make their homes safer.

Merchant says he doesn't feel the recent break-in's are connected but asks resident's in Brown County, Kansas if they notice anything out of the ordinary taking place near their homes to contact his office.
