Andrew County officials have issued a burn ban for the county.
The county commission voted Thursday to ban open burning. The ban is in effect indefinitely. Andrew County, has been dealing with persistent dry conditions for weeks like the rest of the state. Larry Atkins, presiding commissioner says cigarettes thrown from passing vehicles have started small fires, but there's potential for more damage. Western District Commissioner Darryl Howard says until the area gets a heavy rainfall, the safe thing to do is ban open burning.
