Painting The Town Purple

Residents of Shenandoah, Iowa will be seeing purple next week.

To raise awareness for cancer and promote the Relay For Life, residents and local businesses will be decorating their windows in purple for the Painting The Town Purple campaign. Purple is the signature color for the Relay for Life and the color that the American Cancer Society chose to bring awareness to all types of cancer. The Relay For Life event begins at 6pm on Saturday, June 30th at Mustang Field.  There will be musical entertainment throughout the night and a luminary ceremony in honor of those who have survived cancer or in memory of those who have passed away. Chairperson for the West Page/Fremont County Relay For Life Angie Mann, says the time of the event, 6pm to 6am, is symbolic of the struggle with cancer.
