U.S. Highway 71 north of Maryville has reopened.
The highway was closed May 29 to replace a bridge. The Missouri Department of Transportation completed the Whitecloud Branch bridge under the Missouri Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement program. The Route VV bridge near Conception has also reopened after being closed for 44 days for a Safe and Sound Bridge project. 190 bridges in Northwest Missouri will be replaced by the end of next year through the Safe and Sound Bridge project. Currently, eight bridges are under construction. You can find a complete list of bridges included in the program on the MO-DOT website at www.modot.mo.gov.
