Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill is voicing her support for reforms in the new farm bill being discussed by Capitol Hill lawmakers.
McCaskill says she supports ending direct payments to farmers, adding the U-S cannot afford to borrow money from China to pay producers that are having a good year. Still, she does support some payments.
McCaskill also favors food stamp reform by closing loop holes in some states that allow people to get food stamps that don't need them. Her counterpart in the Senate, Roy Blunt, says he's reviewing amendments to the Farm Bill, which needs to be passed before the end of this year.
