Deputy Leaves

Livingston county has lost a deputy sheriff.

Deputy Jay Cooksey has submitted his resignation after accepting a position with another company. Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox tells us Cooksey has indicated higher pay and better benefits for his family are the reason for the latest resignation. Cox says he's seen four jail and sheriff's office employees leave in the last several weeks because of the salary level. Cox says the hiring process for a new deputy sheriff is starting this week.
