The final piece of the arch span to the new Amelia Earhart bridge connecting Missouri and Kansas is in place, but there's still work to do.
The piece was attached on Friday. Kansas Department of Transportation construction engineer Michelle Anschutz says there are several steps remaining before opening the bridge to traffic in mid to late September.
After the bridge is open to traffic a month later, the old bridge will close and is set for demolition next year.
