Animal Shelter Power

A planned electrical outage this morning in St. Joseph could effect operations at the animal shelter there.

KCP & L plans to update the transformers that supply electrical service to St. Joseph's animal shelter. They're hoping power will be restored by noon, but officials with the city say if it's not back on by 1 this afternoon the computerized shelter records won't be accessible until power is back. The normal opening time is 1 o'clock. They're also advising those with health conditions might want to wait until later in the afternoon to visit the shelter, after the air conditioning is re-charged. The shelter will be open tonight until 6:30.
