Memorial Day Service

Yesterday's Memorial Day Service was held outside at the Nodaway County Court House in Maryville.

Brigadier General Mark Corson of Maryville was this year's keynote speaker. In addition to serving, he is also the chair of the Department of Natural Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University. In his speech, Corson expressed his appreciation for all the service members and their families who were present. After giving the history and purpose behind Memorial Day, Corson said methods of celebrating the day have changed.

He also spoke about people who have made an impact in his life and what makes someone a hero.

The service was chaired by Chaplin of Post 100, Bob Bohlken and included a 21 gun salute and musical performances by Joyce Tinsley.
