Maryville School Board approves random drug testing

After approximately a year of discussion and study, the Maryville Board of Education last night approved a random drug testing program for high school students.

Superintendent Larry Linthacum says students taking part in Missouri State High School Activities Association sanctioned events and students using the school's parking lot for their vehicles will be eligible for the random drug testing.

Linthacum says the next step is to seek bids from outside venders to conduct the testing. A draft of the drug testing policy approved by the Maryville School Board is available on the school district's website.
