The Chillicothe City Council has selected an architectural firm for the proposed renovation of the Chillicothe pool.

Water's Edge Aquatic Design from Lenexa, Kansas was selected from four companies that bid on the project by a committee of city representatives. The committee included the parks director, a council member, the mayor, two park board members, and the city administrator. The pool was last renovated 20 years ago, and would need to be resealed after this swim season if the renovations were not taking place. City Administrator, Ike Holland says this project has been in the works for several years and was even set to begin last year but was put on hold for budgetary reasons. Public meetings in June and July are scheduled to discuss the rough plan and gather input from the community. Holland says the city council hopes this renovation will have a positive two-fold effect on the community.

Holland hopes work on the renovation will start at the beginning of the 2012 school year, and be completed by Memorial Day of 2013.
