Cemetery Restore

Chillicothe residents can learn about cemetery restoration at a workshop next weekend.

Volunteers will learn the proper way to clean tombstones properly and how to reset stoned at the South Cemetery outside Chillicothe. Executive Director for the Coalition for Cultural Awareness Tawnya Jones says that there is a lot to learn about cemeteries.

Jones also says that another goal of the event is to spark conversation in the community about the importance of cemeteries as the final resting place of some of its members.

Helping in the restoration will be "Jacob's Ladder," a group of cemetery restoration specialists.The cemetery restoration will be Saturday morning, May 19th starting at 10 at the South Cemetery outside Chillicothe. There will be a picnic after the restoration, which is free and open to the public. Volunteers are asked to bring a soft scrub brush and bucket, and a pot luck for the picnic if possible.
