Migratory Bird Day

A local wildlife refuge will play host to a national birding festival.

Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City is having a bird festival to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day this Saturday, starting with a birding tour at 7:00 a.m. Wildlife refuge specialist for Squaw Creek Corey Kudrna, says there will be events that can be enjoyed by kids as well as adults.

International Migratory Bird Day was created to encourage everyone to take action and help conserve birds and their habitats. Other activities will include bird banding and views of the bald eagle nests. For more information you can call the Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge at 660-442-3187.
