March 6, 2012CLINTON COUNTY, IA | By: Wayman
A preliminary report says the fatal Valentine Day crash of a plane in Clinton County involved hitting some trees.
That's the initial word from investigators at the National Transportations Safety Board. Witnesses say the pilot, who took off from the grain valley airport, was circling a house near Osborn waving at people on the ground before crashing. Both the pilot and the lone passenger in the plane died. Investigators say they have discovered substantial damage to the fuselage and both wings after the crash. A final report, including a possible cause, is still pending from federal authorities.
