Governor Appointments

2 northwest Missouri schools and a county commissioner from the Chillicothe area are effected by governor Nixon's latest appointments.

The governor has appointed Ashton Raffety as the new student regent at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Raffety is a freshman business economics major and political science minor from Drexel. His confirmation on the university board has been confirmed by the state senate. The governor has also appointed Excelsior Spring's Brian Shewell to serve as the student representative on the board of governors at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Shewell's term will end in 2013. ANd Livingston County presiding commissioner Eva Danner Horton has been chosen to serve on the Missouri Workforce Investment Board. That group serves as an advisory council to the governor and division of workforce development on employment and training needs in the state. Danner Horton has also served as coordinating committee chair for the Northwest Workforce Investment Board. After confirmation by the Missouri senate, she will serve her term on the Workforce Investment Board through March of 2016.
