Fake USDA Letters

Nebraska is among the states targeted in an apparent fraud scheme with the United States Department of Agriculture's name on it.

Federal authorities say a fax has been sent out ot residents and businesses in 4 states-possibly more. The faxes bear a USDA seal, but are fakes. They reportedly are signed by a "Frank Rutenberg" using the title of senior procurement officer. The problem is they are asking for personal financial information. The USDA says anyone in Nebraska or surrounding states who have gotten the faxed letter should know its fraudulent and not give out personal information. They say a federal investigation has been launched.
