A major donation has been given to North Central Missouri College in Trenton to help support the Barton farm campus.
Proceeds from the Joanna Whitley Trust are expected to spur more than $400,000 in campus development. Whitley was the widow of Dr. James Whitley, who graduated from Trenton Junior College in 1941 and went on to get his doctorate in agricultural chemistry from the University of Missouri. The estate has given farmland to North Central, with the stipulation it not be used for commercial development. The college plans on selling the acreage and the home, with the money going to help build new infrastructure on the Barton campus for agricultural studies.
