St. Joseph Police arrest a man after responding to a burglary in progress.
Investigators say they were going to the 2000 block of South 20th Street about 9:30 yesterday morning after a resident called in saying he saw a suspect leaving his home. While on the way to talk with the victim, police spotted a white Buick matching the description of the get-away vehicle. Police saw the vehicle and the driver running from the area. Another officer responded and reportedly found the alleged suspect running behind a house in the 3100 block of Renick Street in St. Joseph. A foot chase followed and officers were able to catch him. Arrested is 24 year old Stephen Hayes of St. Joseph. He's been charged with the felony of first degree Burglary. His bond has been set at $2,500.
