Northwest Realignment

This will be a historic week for the university in Maryville.

Administrators are targeting Thursday for a public announcement on probable cuts to academic programs, services, and personnel at Northwest Missouri State. At issue is more than a decade of decreasing state funding, and governor Nixon's proposal last month to withhold another 12.5% from college and university budgets in Missouri. The governor has since pledged another 40 million dollars back to schools based on a recent legal settlement. But Northwest Missouri State University president Dr. John Jasinski says that still can't address how the university moves forward in the years ahead.

President Jasinski says even if academic majors are cut, re-aligning university programs will be done with the core mission of student success at the forefront.
