Missouri residents will see a slight increase on their gas bills starting this month.
The Missouri Public Service commission has approved a request by Missouri Gas Energy to adjust the infrastructure system replacement surcharge, or ISRS, on gas bills. The change in the surcharge will be about $.20 higher starting later this month and will affect all of Missouri Gas Energy's 500,000 Missouri customers. The ISRS charge, which is about $.50 a month right now, covers infrastructure replacement investments made by the company between February and September of last year. This surcharge first appeared in 2004, and covers costs for things such as natural gas pipelines replacements and relocations.
