Raccoons Dumped

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office has cleaned up animal carcasses dumped in a local creek.

They say someone dumped about raccoon carcasses in the Samson Creek near Highway PP west of Pattonsburg. They were also all skinned and had been there for up to two weeks. Daviess county sheriff Ben Becerra says fortunately, there appears to be no health issues.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says raccoon hunting season is in full swing, but adds carcasses dumping equals littering and could be prosecuted. The sheriff's says the conservation office is working on getting a cash reward together for tips. Those can be called into the Department of Conservation or the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.
