Lair on School Funding

Chillicothe's representative says the state's school funding formula is shaping up this legislative session to be another case of urban verses rural.

Mike Lair chairs the house' education appropriations committee. With revenue shortfalls blocking large amounts of new money to public schools, any help for the poorer districts might have to come from cuts to larger suburban ones. Lair says lawmakers are already starting to take sides based on pressure from home.

Lair and other House members are expressing hope they can solve the education funding inequity. But very same fight blocked any senate vote on the effort last year.
