Work is set to begin this week or next to fill a hole on Highway 111 near Big Lake.
That's also a target area for the search for a missing north Missouri trooper. MoDOT's northwest district engineer says a section west of the Highway 111-118 Junction near Big Lake State Park will cost just shy of $400,000 to fill and repair. A firm from Platte City has been awarded the project. MoDOT says it and the firm's workers will also be working closely with the Missouri Highway Patrol during the next several weeks, as that scour hole on Highway 111 is also where trooper Fred Guthrie Junior is believed to have drowned while on flood patrol back in August. The target date for completing the project is April 15th.
