Jan. 27, 2012HIAWATHA, KS | By: Wayman
The Hiawatha City Commission approves a zoning exception for a daycare in town.
Little hands daycare plans on expanding its playground fence. The problem is that expansion would go into the 25 foot utility easement, create line-of-sight problems on the street, and enclose a water service valve. The city's agreed if the daycare will provide a lockbox for the gate and accept a stop sign, the approval could be given. Commissioners approved the plan unanimously. During the meeting the group also got an update on the number of code enforcement violations within Hiawatha. Last year's numbers totaled 716 tickets, down from nearly 850 the year before.
