Fire Danger Today

Near record high temperatures and high winds this afternoon have prompted a rd flag warning for nearly all of our Missouri listening area today.

Atchison county, Kansas is also under the warning. That means low humidity and dry vegetation are combining for a high fire danger. The National Weather Service says south winds constant at around 25 miles per hour could cause any outdoor fires to spread rapidly. The service calls it a "Explosive fire growth potential". The high fire danger and red flag warning is in effect until 6 this evening.
