Following the trend of several courthouses in our region, the Atchison county Kansas seat is planning to install an elevator.

County commissioners are awaiting approval from the state historical society for an ADA compliant elevator to be installed in the courthouse. County commissioner Jeff Schuele predicts a large construction project.

Funding for the elevator is being matched up to 50% by the heritage charitable trust. The county says the project remains on schedule and is set to start in March.
