Several schools in our region are declared winners in the state's battle of the belt challenge.
Sponsored by the Missouri coalition for roadway safety, the schools launched two surprise seat belt checks at the schools to see if students were following an educational campaign on the importance of using the safety devices. 3 Schools in the northwest region are getting statewide recognition, with Osborn High reporting a near 100% participation. Northwestern R-1 in Mendon is recognized for 95 to 98% participation. And West Nodaway in Burlington Junction took 3rd. 155 schools in Missouri participated in the latest battle of the belt challenge.
