Dec. 13, 2011MARYVILLE, MO | By: Wayman
The city council approves the construction of a cabin at Mozingo Lake.
The building is intended to house boy scouts from the northwest Missouri and Kansas City areas. The King Trust Company sought to gain the city's approval but says construction does not require any financial assistance from Maryville. However, the company is hoping to receive a grant from the Gladus Record Foundation in the amount of $65,000 for the creation of a 200 person storm shelter beneath the cabin. A total of $80,000 additional has been set aside for other construction costs, including 2,000 in engineering fees. The Mozingo Cabin will also be open to public use, and is expected to be completed within a year.
