Emergency Funds

The USDA designates nearly 20 counties in our region eligible for federal disaster assistance.

It comes as a result of the hail and wind storm that hit the region on August 18th, and the money will be going to local producers to help recover from massive be going to local producers to help recover from massive crop losses. The Missouri counties declared natural disaster areas include Andrew, Atchison, Gentry, and Nodaway. But because they are contiguous with those counties, AG producers will also be eligible in DeKalb, Carroll, Holt, Daviess, Buchanan, Harrison, Clinton, and Worth counties in Missouri in Iowa Fremont, Page, and Taylor counties, in Kansas Atchison, and Doniphan, and in Nebraska Nemaha and Richardson. Farmers and ranchers have 8 months from yesterday to apply to the USDA's Farm Service Agency for low interest emergency loans.
