The completion of a DeKalb County Bridge marks a milestone for MoDOT projects in northwest Missouri.
The agency has now opened the Route E bridge over little 3rd fork of the Platte River in DeKalb county. This marks more than 70 bridges either replaced or repaired in the northwest corner of the state. 11 bridges have been upgraded this year, 62 bridges were replaced entirely. Statewide MoDOT has a goal of improving 802 bridges by then end of 2013. So far the average closure time has been 40 days per bridge. You can check to see the bridges still on the list at MoDOT's website by searching for the "Safe and Sound" bridge improvement program.
