Deer Harvest

There are now about 1,500 fewer deer in northwest Missouri than before firearms deer season opened on Saturday.

The state Department of Conservation says hunters in Nodaway county harvested 1,753 deer. In Livingston that number was 1,164. In Buchanan hunters took about 560 head. In Andrew 882, and 1,852 from Linn county. Other county totals are: Grundy county 988 deer, Holt 788, Atchison 681, Worth 721, Harrison 1,904, Gentry 1,149, Daviess 1,471 and DeKalb 818.
