Trafficking Charges

A north east Kansas man already facing 30 felonies of rape and indecent liberties with a child now faces human trafficking as well.

52 year old David Smith of Effingham Kansas had the four new felonies filed against him after being accused with having inappropriate relations with a 13 year old child starting September of last year through late February of this year. He was arrested at his home on July 23rd and was supposed to have a jury trial starting this week but asked for that to be continued until mid-December. His preliminary hearing on the human trafficking allegations is set for November first. He remains in jail on a quarter million dollar bond.
