Federal authorities have permanently revoked the license of a Chillicothe dog breeder.
The US Department of Agriculture revokes the federal license of Marsha Cox, who operates the Mar-Don Kennels in Chillicothe. Cox's facility was one of the so-called "Puppy Mills" identified in the "Missouri Dirty Dozen" report released by the Humane Society of the United States last year. In June and December of last year the USDA inspectors reported numerous violations of the animal welfare act at the Chillicothe Kennel and said that in March of this year they tried to visit the facility again but were denied access. The Humane Society of the United States says even with the federal license permanently revoked, some breeders can continue selling animals directly to the public over the internet.
