The Missouri Department of Transportation's Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program has entered the home stretch on its way to replacing or reparing more than 800 of the state's worst bridges.
The 600th new bridge has now opened on Route H in DeKalb county. There are 58 bridges still under construction and about 20 more projects yet to start in 2011. This year nearly 230 Missouri bridges have been built, with 41 other upgraded.
