Its furry, has four legs, a tail, and is now the newest member of an area fire station.
Today the St. Joseph Fire Department is introducing "Phoenix" a Labrador retriever. Phoenix is a k-9 unit that will assist the department with investigations and keeping one step ahead of potential arsonist. The training Phoenix went through wasn't easy a 5-week Canine-Accelerant Detection course that trains dogs to use their keen sense of smell to aid officials. Phoenix will be handled by St. Joseph Arson Investigator Jason Ziph.
