Oct. 6, 2011ST. JOSEPH, MO | By: Wayman
Just in time for this year's benchmark 150th Civil War Anniversary, Missouri Western in St. Joseph is presenting the classic "Romeo and Juliet", but with a twist.
Instead of being set in 14th century Italy, it will be set in Missouri in 1861. The Civil-War era production is a nod to Missouri being a border state with strong sympathies to both sides. The director says the classic has been localized to reflect a community much like St. Joseph itself in the 1860's. Performance are tonight through Saturday at 7:30 and again Sunday the 9th at 3 at Potter Hall on the Missouri Western State campus in St. Joseph.
