Chillicothe Plant Closure

The mayor of Chillicothe says news of the Gear for Sports and Hanes Brand Factory closure is a bombshell for the community.

The athletic clothing company opened in Chillicothe in 2011 but was bought by the North Carolina-based Hanes Brands last year. That company now says it's moving the plant and nearly 130 jobs to Mexico by this December. Chillicothe mayor Chuck Haney calls Gear for Sports a great partner with the city over the past decade but says the swift closure is "Disappointing" and an economic blow to workers and to the entire community.

Haney says the employees are being told they will get 3 to 4 weeks of pay and benefits as the layoffs are phased in and completed by December.
