WATHENA, KS (2011-09-21)
The police chief in Wathena Kansas has resigned after a state investigation.
Brian Walker submitted his resignation at this week's council meeting. The 13 year chief was suspended in June for an undisclosed personnel issue. Earlier this month the Kansas Attorney General's Office confirmed it had investigated but said there wasn't enough evidence against Walker to charge him with any crime. Neither Walker nor city officials are saying publically why he resigned. There's no word when the city might fill the chief's position permanently.
