Mound City residents should soon see upgrades to the community building.
The association for the building is planning an addition that will extends another 12 feet from the front of the building. Another 6 to 8 feet of property will have to be acquired by the city, and Mound City Aldermen are considering deeding that area over to the community building association. Even though that has yet to be done, the city says work can move forward. The association hopes to get a survey done then start pouring concrete and setting steel in the next 30 days. Also at the recent meeting the Board of Aldermen approved buying a three-quarter ton pick up from Laukemper Chevrolet and purchasing a snow plow, spreader, and deflector from knapheide equipment. Members also approved paving with concrete Paxton Street in Mound City north to Hickory Street and approved the Mound City fall clean up day for Sunday, October 30th. That event will be at the Mound City pool parking lot from 1 to 3.
