Sept. 23, 2011ST. JOSEPH, MO | By: Wayman
That's the target date for flood damaged Highway 136 in Atchison county Missouri to be repaired and back open to traffic. MoDOT St. Joseph headquarters says a Leavenworth contractor has agreed to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to repair a nearly 2 mile stretch of 136, which runs from the west side of Interstate 29 to Route D in Atchison county, that's west of Rockport as you are driving toward Brownville Nebraska. MoDOT says this stretch is the first part of a multi-phase project to fix 4 major gaps in Highway 136 in Atchison county Missouri by that October deadline. Engineers have also identified a 600 foot erosion hole on Highway 136 nearby but say they are still waiting for more water to recede before repairs on that can start.
