Flood Repair Funds Released

Federal authorities are issuing what they call "Quick Release Emergency Funds" immediately to help with damage repairs along the Missouri RIver in northwest Missouri.

Two million dollars are available as of today and will go to the Missouri Department of Transportation to begin road and bridge rebuilding. That money comes from the US Transportation Department. The federal highway administrator says the quick release funding can be used for removing debris, repairing washed out sections of highways, and providing traffic control for detours. The money can also be used to reimburse Atchison, Holt, and other county governments on money they have already spent in the flood fight. MoDOT has told federal authorities the total price tag to fix infrastructure damaged or washed away by the Missouri River Flooding this summer could top 11 million dollars.
