Drought Assistance

Governor Nixon is asking for more federal help for several of our counties hit by extreme heat and drought earlier this summer.

Counties in our area included in list of 101 Missouri counties are Caldwell, Daviess, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Putnam, and Worth. These are the counties where at least 30% of the estimated single crop was lost. The governor points to the excessive heat reducing crop yields, scortching pastures, and even drying up ponds. His letter to the secretary of agriculture is requesting the counties be declared primary disaster areas which would then start the process for USDA money to help producers in those areas.
