Red Cross Relief

Flood waters are just beginning to drop in some select places along the Missouri River, but our region's Red Cross is already mobilizing for the recovery effort the next few months.

Midland Empire Red Cross executive director Kevin Kirby out of St. Joseph says flood recovery centers will be open today through Thursday in Mound City at the United Methodist Church and in Rushville today from noon through 7 tonight at the Rushville Christian Church. He says not only are they giving out more than 30 cleaning supplies, but helping people cope mentally as well

Kirby expects his St. Joseph-based staff will remain focused on the recovery efforts locally, and not be responding to the east coast for Hurricane Irene.
