For the first time, Missouri Western's theater department is opening up auditions to the public.
Auditions for a new twist on the classic "Romeo and Juliet" will be next Wednesday August 31st from 7 to 10. Assistant professor of theater and cinema says auditions have always been for students and select faculty, so opening them to the public is a major shift in philosophy. Missouri Western's production will be based on Romeo and Juliet but take place in 1861 Amid Civil War conflict. The public performance will be October 6th through the 9th. More information on the open auditions, including a selection of monologues, is at the Missouri Western Theater and Cinema's website.
