New River Channels

Even though Missouri River levels have dropped, strong currents are actually cutting new channels across Atchison County Missouri flood zones.

The strength of the flood water has created dangerous conditions and hampered efforts to find the missing water patrol trooper in Holt County. But to the north, Atchison County Emergency Management director Rhonda Wiley says new channels have been carved, but it will take time to figure out what that means for future Missouri River flows.
