Maryville community leaders are celebrating the completion of the downtown district's renovations.

The nearly 3 million dollar project of streetscape, landscaping, and business upgrades started in August 2007 and continued with weekly meetings to this month. Five community members benchmarking Jefferson City and Shenandoah Iowa's downtowns were the original group. That included Aleta Hubbard, who says to now see it completed is exciting.

Individual donations ranging from $20 to 60,000 made Maryville's downtown district's upgrades possible, along with government and corporate supporters.
