Maryville Fire Aid

The cleanup continues after yesterday's early morning fire in Maryville's downtown district, but so does the call for help.

The blaze destroyed a multi-story apartment complex, as well as an insurance agency and hair salon. That's displaced about a dozen apartment dwellers and the Red-Cross says donations are needed. The Red Cross out of St. Joseph is coordinating the relief efforts and estimates between 6 and 9 thousand dollars will be needed to cover expense of food, clothing, medication, and housing replacement. A Northwest Missouri State Fraternity is accepting clothes and money donations at the corner of first and Main about a block south of the fire. Those donations going to the Red Cross can be dropped off there from 2:30 this afternoon until 8 tonight. You can also contact the St. Joseph Red Cross directly their number is 816-232-8439.
